WHO WE ARE
Ms. Scalzitti and Ms. Gentile serve as the business owners of An Independent Life, LLC. Ms. Gentile is a member of the Association of People Supporting Employment First (APSE) and also a Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP). Both Ms. Gentile and Ms. Scalzitti have many years of experience working with adults with disabilities in the public school setting and the private sector as well. Ms. Gentile and Ms. Scalzitti have experience writing grants successfully in the state of South Carolina.
OUR MISSION
Our mission and vision for an Independent Life is to empower people with disabilities to live life with purpose and quality within their communities, through employment skills, training in independent life skills and self-advocacy.
WHAT WE BELIEVE AS A SERVICE PROVIDER
An Independent Life believes that all people have the right to and deserve a life of quality and purpose. We believe that services should be inclusive within a community setting and should be client driven, emphasizing their strengths and interests. We also believe that learning to negotiate public transportation, cell phone use, community awareness, and self advocacy are critical for becoming as independent as possible.
